"In the true spirit of hospitality, The Hotel Council of San Francisco partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to raise funds for vital research. The unprecedented campaign, coined one of the City's most impressive single industry supported fund-raising initiatives, supported by Mayor Ed Lee's office, raised much needed funds to provide financial, education and social services for individuals and their families affected by blood cancer. The majority of monies raised will be earmarked to fund research on pediatric blood cancers in honor of campaign honoree, 9-year-old, Mina Olsen. The 30-day city-wide crusade, which officially closed July 31, 2012, garnered just shy of $400,000 via the tireless efforts of over 28,000 hoteliers from over 181 participating hotels."
