The City and County of San Francisco established a goal to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2020. To help achieve this, it requires all San Franciscans - residents and businesses - to separate recyclables, compostables, and refuse. Click here to learn more about zero waste >>
The City and County of San Francisco's waste hauler, Recology, collects the City's recyclables, compostables, and refuse. Recology’s rate structure is “pay-as-you-throw”, which means the less your business discards as trash and the more your business recycles and composts, then the less your business pays.
