Fitted Sheet Bill Pulled By Author
HCSF was alerted by the California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) this week that SB432, otherwise known as the “Fitted Sheet Bill”, has been pulled off the California State Senate docket by the author (Senator de León-D, Los Angeles) and the bills sponsors. While SB 432 is now a two year bill, CH&LA has pledged to remain vigilant over the next couple of weeks should the author or sponsors attempt a rule waiver to allow the bill to be considered again prior to adjournment. The bill will however, be eligible for further consideration in 2012.
CH&LA has been informed by the sponsors that they intend to pursue the issue through the regulatory process in lieu of the legislative process by requesting that the Cal OSHA Standards Board look into both the sheet and tool issues. CH&LA will continue to represent your interests to the Standards Board during that process.

The California Chamber of Commerce has announced that effective November 14, 2011, most private-sector employers must post a new notice issued by the NLRB entitled, "Employee Rights Under the National Labor Relations Act".
NLRB has not yet released the final poster specifications. We’ll have the additional 11”x 17” poster available to order as soon as they make those specifications available. Watch your email for more details!
