The Hotel Council of San Francisco Remembers Robert Begley
The Hotel Council of San Francisco mourns the loss of Robert Begley. As the first Executive Director of the Hotel Council of San Francisco established in 1987, Bob was a guide and mentor to many in the Hospitality Industry. Bob, a native San Franciscan, was a longtime resident of both San Francisco and San Mateo. Convention & Visitors Bureau; General Manager, S.F. Convention Facilities, Moscone Center; General Manager of several major hotels and Board Member/Trustee of several organizations. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Estelle "Mitzi" Begley, and his sister Patricia Nead. Bob is survived by his adoring bride Marlie Hill Begley of San Mateo; son Joseph Begley and daughter-in-law Marilyn Holm of Mountain View; daughter Julie Begley Butt, son-in-law Peter Butt, and beloved granddaughters Erin and Megan, all of Corte Madera, as well as many relatives and friends whom he held dear. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Mercy Center, 2300 Adeline Dr., Burlingame, CA 94010 or to the Robert Begley Leadership Scholarship Fund c/o the Hotel and Restaurant Foundation, 588 Sutter Street Box #123, San Francisco, CA 94102. National Groundhog
Job Shadow Day
February 2, 2012 is National Groundhog Job Shadow Day. We use that day to introduce high school students to our San Francisco hotel industry and get them interested in pursuing a hospitality program in college or going from school to career. Our industry needs good, interested people, now and in the future, and this program serves that need. Your participation may be the start of a future hotel industry leader’s career and they will never forget you.
Please click here for more information.
To participate, a simple form is completed with information on who to report to and the department(s) where students will be placed, in order for the teachers to place the most appropriate student to the opportunity.
The Chancellor Hotel has participated in the program for several years and Wes Tyler is available to answer any questions you may have about how the program has worked. For more information, feel free to call or email Wes at wtyler@chancellorhotel.com or 415.248.2461
