San Francisco's Million Dollar Mission
July 1st to July 31st 2012
In the true spirit of hospitality, The Hotel Council of San Francisco is partnering with LLS to raise funds for vital research for a cure. Working collectively, the San Francisco Hospitality & Service Industries will join forces to help provide financial, educational and social services for individuals affected by blood cancer and their families during a 30 day city-wide fundraising campaign beginning July 1, 2012. The campaign goal is to raise $1,000,000 dollars. Click here for more information.

On June 20th 2012, the Hotel Council of San Francisco's Board of Directors will gather for their Annual Member Meeting, during which the 2012 - 2013 Board of Directors will be elected. All members are invited to attend this meeting and stay for a special reception. The meeting takes place at the Palace Hotel from 3:00 to 4:30, and the reception is from 4:30 to 6:30. Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival
This September 8th and 9th please join us at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival held in San Francisco at Ghirardelli Square. Even though this is the 17th year of the festival benefiting Project Open Hand it will be the first year that Allied Member, Ghirardelli Chocolate, will be hosting the event. Many new activities have been added and exciting new vendors. There will be an Ice Cream Eating Contest, Bake-off, Silent Auction, Chocolate School and 40 vendors to sample chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! 2012 Hotel Hero Night at AT&T Park!
On Monday, May 14th, all 2012 San Francisco Hotel Hero Award winners were recognized for their achievements at AT&T Park! During a special pre-game on field ceremony, the Giants congratulated the winners and thanked them for everything they do to help make San Francisco "everybody's favorite city". Congratulations to our 2012 Hotel Hero Award Winners!

Meet Mina Briggitta Olson
The Hotel Council of San Francisco had a special guest at the March Luncheon - Mina Briggitta Olson. Mina was only eight months old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in January of 2004. Mina underwent treatment at UCSF that year, but her leukemia returned in 2005. She received a bone marrow transplant in April 2005, 10 days after her second birthday and has been cancer free ever since! Mina enjoys school, art projects, swimming, playing pretend with her brother and running barefoot in the grass on hot days. Click here to find out how you can help people like Mina.

The event sells out every year! Not only do we have a blast on the day of the tournament, the committee thouroughly enjoys planning the event as well! Come join us! You do not need to be a golfer to be a part of the committee. In fact, you don't need to know a thing about golf. All that is necessary is the desire to work together with other industry professionals to help plan one of the best industry events of the year! Meetings are held once a month. "Tom Costello Day"! 5/23/12
On May 23, 2012, Tom Costello was awarded the Peter Goldman Award of Excellence. Mayor Lee presented Mr. Costello with a Certificate of Honor and proclaimed 5/23/12 as "Tom Costello Day"! The Peter Goldman Award of Excellence was established in 1989 to honor an individual who exemplifies outstanding education and devotion to our industry and demonstrates leadership with skills and energy that raises the level of service and perception of our San Francisco hotel and tourism industry. For over twenty-one years as the Director of the University of San Francisco’s Hospitality Management Program, Tom has done just that! Click here to see photos of the event.
