The Hilton San Francisco is holding a Blood Drive on Friday, August 31st from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Plaza Ballroom.
Someone needs blood every 3 seconds in this country. An average of 40,000 units are needed every day in the U.S. There is no substitute for human blood. 60% of the population will need blood at some time in their lives, yet less than 5% of the population donates. Blood donors are true heroes! In fact, your one blood donation will be broken down into several components, enabling you, with just one donation, to save up to three lives.
Please consider donating at the Hilton San Francisco's Blood Drive and contact Jo Licata for more information.

Patient Lodging Program
The American Cancer Society Patient Lodging Program of San Francisco is designed for cancer patients, who travel over 50 miles for treatment, do not have friends or relatives to stay with in the area, and for whom this would be a financial hardship. A person can be doing well financially one day, be diagnosed with cancer, and the next day their entire financial picture changes. This long standing program has an excellent track record. Patients review guidelines and sign a waiver. Treatment is confirmed. Reservations are only made by the American Cancer Society staff in a method preferred by participating hotels. On a rotating basis, participating hotels provide complimentary rooms on a space-available basis. Upon return to their community, patients tell their friends and relatives about the generosity of the hotel. These friends in turn recommend participating hotels to their neighbors. Recognition of hotel participation is provided at local hotel association and Chamber of Commerce meetings, American Cancer Society leadership events and other venues as appropriate.
For more information about the California Division American Cancer Society Patient Lodging program, please call: Ashley Nelson, Training Program Manager at (510) 836-8142.
