Jan Misch

Jan began her hospitality career in 1968 as a Front Office Agent and Accounting Clerk at the Holiday Inn in Arlington, Virginia. Within the year, Jan made the move to California, where she worked in the Front Office of the Holiday Inn, San Jose. Jan quickly fell in love with the Hospitality Industry and in 1970, she began working for Hyatt Hotels. Jan spent nineteen years with Hyatt Hotels and worked her way up from Front Office Manager, to Hotel Assistant Manager, to Rooms Executive, and eventually worked as General Manager of the Hyatt Anaheim and Hyatt Palo Alto.

In 1989, Jan began working at the Juliana Hotel, where she became the first female General Manager for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurant Group. Jan loved her time at the Juliana, where she successfully renovated and branded the hotel in a “Women’s” Theme, complete with Laura Ashley designed suites. In 1996, Jan moved to the Tuscan Inn where she continues to work as General Manager.

Throughout her career, Jan has expressed such a passion for the industry as well as the community around her. One of her proudest accomplishments is being responsible for leading the Fisherman’s Wharf Association Board of Directors to establish and implement the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD). Jan is involved with a plethora of Community Organizations, including “Dress for Success”, where she sits on the Board of Directors. In 2006, she personally orchestrated a “Dance with Executives” Fundraiser and successfully raised $20,000 for Dress for Success.

In addition to being a founding team member of the Kimpton University Concept, Jan has developed and implemented many educational and leadership programs. As a Certified Enneagram Teacher, Jan is often sought after by her friends and colleagues for advice on conflict resolution and effective communication techniques. From Holiday Inn, to Hyatt, to Kimpton, “Momma Misch” has been a mentor to so many individuals, infusing the Hospitality Industry with her fun personality, dedication, compassion, and leadership
